ASPCA FUNDS HAY GRANT FOR EQUINE AID

January 2012, Equine Aid horse and Donkey Rescue of Monroe, Washington was the recipient of a $3,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) based in New York city. This grant was funded to provide hay for the twenty-five rescued equines at Equine Aid.

Equine Aid formed in 1999 as a private rescue. In October of 2008 they applied for and received charitable status in the state of Washington. In June of 2010 Equine Aid was recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 charity. We are extremely grateful for this grant and recognition from the ASPCA.

The ASPCA was founded in 1866 by Henry Bergh “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.” The ASPCA was the first humane society in North America and is one of the largest in the world today. They speak up daily for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Equine Aid is also grateful to Red Hawk Horse and Hay Company of Ellensburg, Washington for delivering eleven tons of beautiful Timothy hay at a generous discount. Red Hawk is operated by Shane Slick and his mother Becky Nyberg who are supporters and donors to the ASPCA. We look forward to their 2012 hay crop and doing business with them again.
